how to tell MATLAB to run on 1 proc. only ?

MATLAB 4.2c.1 for R4400 on an SGI Power Challenge under IRIX 6.1
sometimes uses several processors in parallel (as seen from the program
'top').

Is there a way to tell MATLAB to use only 1 processor ?
