Forcing TrueColor NOT!

We are running Matlab against a PC running NCD PC-Xware 4.0 for NT.

The problem is that PC-Xware reports that it has the TrueColor X windows
visual available but only has 8 colors.

Matlab will make use of TrueColor if the server reports it is available
instead of PsuedoColor.

Is there anyway to tell Matlab *NOT* to use TrueColor? This is just
the OPPOSITE of the FAQs questions and answers.
