Visual Matlab programming with Visual Science

I have been very interested by the following article :
Visual Programming for Science by R. Grehan, Byte December 1996, p. 208
Visual Science is described as a Visual programming tool (a la Simulink) for numerical simulations. Some info can be found at :

Visual Science can use its own language or use Matlab and IDL programs.
Does anybody has any experience of the quality of the interaction with Matlab? Can Visual Science execute any m-files and mex-file directly? Can Visual Science display Matlab graphics (2D and 3D)? ...
Any feedback will be welcome.
