nansum vs nanmean

I found nanmean and nansum differ in treating NaN. Please see below. Could you explain why nansum([NaN NaN NaN]') equals zero, not NaN?

>> nanmean([NaN NaN NaN]')

ans =


>> nansum([NaN NaN NaN]')
