RE: Common Core Math

I am hopeful that we will be given a choice in June of 2014 between giving the Common Core exams or the 2005 exams. If that is the case, most of the concerns that have been raised here will be moot (except the calculator issue). Perhaps NYS does hear our concerns and they are giving us an extra year (if we choose) before we have to give the exams based on Common Core.
I don't know any specifics on any of this, but in fairness to us, hopefully we will know soon.

It's assumed at this point that they are talking about the "phase out" of the exams to accommodate the students who are taking those exams now, but may need to retake them if they don't pass. People are asking for more specific guidance on this.

Dear Colleagues,
Attached is the release of the January and June 2014 Regents exam schedules. I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that there was not going to be a transiton period from the old Regents exam to the new, as they have done in the past, and that June 2014 would be the new Common Core Regents in Algebra and Geometry without an option of taking the Integrated Algebra and Geometry Regents. I am pretty sure this is what John Svendsen told us at the AMTNYS level meeting back in November. Did I miss something? The attached documents say otherwise. Does this mean we can offer Integrated Algebra and Geometry (2005 edition) one more time?
