Management (DRM). This means that they have a watermark with
the name of the purchaser, the date of purchase, and a
statement that the book is for personal use only.

SUMMER WORKSHOPS FOR MATH TEACHERS

The Center for Innovative Teaching has announced its summer
weekend workshops. Taking place at the Urban School of San
Francisco and at Chapin School, in New York, math
offerings include
- Visual Algebra: greater access, greater challenge, and
greater variety -- by using blocks or tiles, geoboards,
function diagrams, and technology
- Re-imagining High School Math: pedagogy, learning tools,
curriculum, assessment, the long period, heterogeneous
classes, deceleration, teacher collaboration
- Hands-On Geometry: kinesthetics, pattern blocks, geoboards,
puzzles, technology, construction, transformations,
authentic approach to proof
- No Limits: visual introduction to functions, iteration,
series, mathematical induction, chaos, and complex numbers;
geometry of parabolas
A limited number of public school teachers get their
registration fees waived -- first come, first served.
