colouring a plot

Hi

Just wonder how can I colour/shade a plot as shown in this link. (In this link, it is a heart shape)

Using set(p, 'FaceColor', 'r', 'EdgeColor', 'none'); is not ideal as it only colours the whole plot to become red without the white glare
