Journal Editor

Are you a high school teacher or a mathematics
teacher educator looking to do something
different? Have you been published? Are you
deadline-driven? If this sounds like you, The
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
(NCTM) is seeking a journal editor to ensure the
mathematical and educational soundness of
Mathematics Teacher, an award-winning,
peer-reviewed journal targeted to secondary
school mathematics teachers.

The ideal candidate is a mathematics educator
familiar with the journal who has had some
experience with writing, editing, and web content
development. The journal editor works closely
with a copy editor and is responsible for editing
and production at every stage of the publication
process. This position also includes daily
contact with editorial panel members, authors,
editors, and staff, so a team spirit is
important. The editor will also be asked to help
with math content from other areas of the
association such as books, conferences, and
professional development. This position is being
posted now for school-year planning purposes, but
it doesn't open until November 1, 2013.


· Master's degree in mathematics or mathematics education

· 5 years of classroom teaching experience
· An understanding of how students in pre-K-12 grades learn mathematics
· An interest in the publication process


· Attention to details
· PC skills a must
· Must work well with others
