I'm convinced that the decision makers as to exam dates, have never taught
high school math (probably never taught at all). The districts that
require their students to purchase their own calculators have nothing to
worry about, in fact they are probably elated because they get the exams
out of the way very early.

I think SED needs to be flooded with letters. phone calls, and emails
expressing this concern. Maybe, and it's a big maybe, but maybe they'll
change one of the exams to another date. The calculator issue will be a
HUGE issue for us. A rough estimate shows that about 40% of our Geom/Alg
2 students, when combined, would be without a graphing calculator.

June 2014 Geo and Alg2/Trig schedule

With the latest update to the June 2014 exam schedule, Geometry and Alg
2/Trigonometry exams are being offered at the same time. I know that is
quite a conflict for us to handle when it comes to supplies, especially
graphing calculators when each students should have exclusive use of one.
Knowing how many we typically lend out for each exam, I am sure our
school's current supply won't be enough to meet our needs. Are other
schools in the same situation as we are? I would like this brought to the
state's attention because I am sure this is going to me a major issue in
many schools.
