excels linest function, how?

In excel, there's a function called linest that returns, in addition to
slope and intercept,

- the standard errors of the slope and intercept,
- the degrees of freedom,
- r^2,
- the standard error of the Y estimate,
- the F statistic.

I know I can get the slope and intercept from polyfit, but I'm not 100% on
how to get the others. Any hints most graciously accepted...
