Department overview.

The Charles A. Dana Center is an organized research unit in the
College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.
The Dana Center works with our nation's education systems to ensure
that every student leaves school prepared for success in
postsecondary education and the contemporary workplace. Our work,
based upon two decades of experience, focuses on K-16 mathematics and
science education with an emphasis in strategies for improving
student engagement, motivation, persistence, and achievement. The
Dana Center develops innovative curricula, tools, protocols, and
instructional supports and delivers powerful instructional and
leadership development.

Position Summary:

Purpose of position. Lead a collaborative team to develop curricula
for innovative pathways to credit-bearing College Mathematics
courses, particularly at the Community College level, and collaborate
on the Center's other Higher Education efforts.

Essential functions. Work with collaborative team to develop
curricula for pathways in Statistics and preparation for Calculus to
take developmental students to-and-through credit-bearing College
Mathematics courses at the Community College level. Work with
advisors to set design principles, course outcomes, and outlines;
organize and supervise authors and reviewers to develop all course
materials including assessments, instructor notes, and support
materials; and edit materials into a coherent and comprehensive
curriculum. Support Dana Center's Higher Education work, including
working as part of a team to write grants and proposals to support

Required qualifications: Master's Degree in Mathematics Education,
Mathematics, or Education with Mathematics emphasis or related STEM
field. Experience teaching at the Community College level. Six (6 )
years of combined experience in classroom teaching in grades 9-14,
curriculum development, and/or supervising or providing technical
assistance and support for Mathematics teachers or faculty.
Demonstrated content knowledge of Statistics, Algebra, Trigonometry,
and Calculus. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and
knowledge of recommendations for Mathematics curriculum.

Preferred qualifications: PhD in Mathematics Education, Mathematics,
or Education with Mathematics emphasis. More than eight (8) years of
combined experience Community College teaching, grades 8-16 teaching
experience, teaching developmental Mathematics, managing educational
projects, and /or working with PK-14 teachers. Demonstrated
successful experience in faculty leadership, including developing and
facilitating professional learning opportunities. Demonstrated
strong knowledge of the Mathematics underlying the High School and
beginning College Mathematics curriculum, including developmental
Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Literacy, Discrete Mathematics,
Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and/or related topics.

Working Conditions: May work around standard office conditions.
Travel, including air travel and use of personal or rental vehicle.
Occasional weekend, evening, and overtime hours. Use of computer and
Mathematics-specific technology, including graphing calculators, and
Statistics education software.
