Show that the points (1,4),(7,0)(5,-3),(-1,1) are vertices of a rectangle. find it's area...

let: A =(1,4), B =( 7,0), C =(5,-3), D =(-1,1)

i made 2 solutions in a scratch paper since im not sure if what i was doing was correct:

first i solved the distance between AB, BC, CD and DA ... was it correct???

second i solved the distance of A and B then C and D then i used their answers to solve for the area...

which one is corect the 1st solution or second or what was it all wrong??? O.o
