Background color in surface plot

Hello,

1) I am generating and surface plot using 'surf' command and plotting its top view using 'view(2)' command. In order to remove the background color, I have used plot property : 'edgecolor' , 'none'. This does give me a heat map kind of plot but with little saw-tooth kind of edges.

Please tell me how can I get smooth edges of the plot with no default blue color in the background.

2) Also, when I make the same surface plot with 'edgecolor', 'none' over a scatter plot in the same figure using 'hold on' command, the surface plot comes with a rectangular patch of blue color in the background which does not even match the axes limits of the scatter plot.

Please tell me how can I plot the top view of the surface plot (using view(2)) over a scatter plot without any background color.

Your help and suggestions are highly appreciated.
