stem plot baseline should adjust to the values too

What is the point of having the baseline always at 0? Given that the axes
auto-adjust, this makes the plot rather useless when the values are not
around 0.
This code sort of works for me:
;set (stem (X, Y), 'BaseLine', median (Y));
but I wonder why anything around these lines is not the default.
