Assistant Professor in Elementary Mathematics and/or Science Education

Start Date, Fall, 2014

The School of Teaching and Curriculum Leadership
(STCL) in the College of Education at Oklahoma
State University is seeking an outstanding new
tenure-track faculty member to contribute to the
Elementary Education program with an emphasis on
mathematics and/or science teaching and learning.
This faculty member will work with others in the
program and School to enhance and expand existing
strengths and increase the positive impact of the
program on education in the state of Oklahoma,
the region, and the nation. This faculty member
will join a group of active mathematics and
science education faculty who are active grant
writers and involved in a variety of national
organizations.

POSITION: Tenure-track Assistant Professor,
Elementary Mathematics and/or Science Education

RESPONSIBILITIES: The tenure-track faculty member
will contribute to the Elementary Education
program and the School of Teaching and Curriculum
Leadership (STCL), as well as to the College of
Education and Oklahoma State University, by
engaging in these and other professional
activities:

· Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in
1-8 mathematics and/or science education;
· Advising undergraduate and graduate students;
· Conducting a program of focused research and
publication related to the position;
· Demonstrating grantsmanship, including
frequently collaborating with others in the
School, College, University, public schools, and
community on grants;
· Supervising elementary student teachers;
· Collaborating with university and public school faculty;
· Serving in leadership positions in professional organizations;
· Developing teacher education curricula; and
· Participating in university outreach.

The successful candidate will understand the
university's land grant mission and embrace the
opportunity to make a positive impact on the
community through teaching, scholarship, and
service.

The position is primarily assigned to the
OSU-Stillwater campus with some responsibilities
at the OSU-Tulsa campus.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Mathematics Education and/or
Science Education, or related area and emphasis
· Minimum three years of successful classroom
teaching experience (1-8 preferable);
· Clearly articulated scholarly goals that align
with the goals of the program, School, and
College;
· Record of professional service, effective
teaching, scholarly productivity and grant
activity;
· Affinity for, and experience engaged in, interdisciplinary work;
· Experience teaching undergraduates and/or
graduate students in pedagogy courses, with
preference given to those who have taught
elementary (1-8) mathematics and/or science
pedagogy and taught field experience courses, and
supervised 1-8 field experiences

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

BEGINNING DATE: August 1, 2014

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION/SCHOOL OF TEACHING AND
CURRICULUM LEADERSHIP: The College of Education
is located in Willard Hall, centrally located on
OSU's scenic campus. The state-of-the-art
facility provides contemporary faculty offices,
classrooms, laboratories, math and reading
center, and a distance learning center. OSU's
main campus in Stillwater (pop. 46,000) is
approximately 65 miles from both the Tulsa and
Oklahoma City metropolitan areas and is readily
accessible from other major cities by interstate
highway and air. As one of three schools in the
College of Education, the School of Teaching and
Curriculum Leadership employs 29 tenure track
faculty.

UNIVERSITY: Oklahoma State University is a

education with an enrollment of more than 22,000
students. The University offers 91 programs of
study leading to a bachelor's degree, 70 master's
programs and 46 programs at the doctoral level.
