Assistant Professor - Mathematics Education - Tenure Track
Open Rank Professor - Mathematics Education

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at San
Antonio, a dynamic and rapidly growing component of the University of
Texas System, invites applications for a tenure-track position as
Assistant Professor in the area of Mathematics Education, and an open
rank position in Mathematics Education, beginning Fall, 2014.

Responsibilities include: (a) teaching undergraduate and graduate
mathematics and mathematics education courses, (b) advising graduate
students, (c) conducting an active program of research, (d) seeking
extramural/grant funding, and (e) providing service and leadership to
department, college, university and community constituencies in the
area of mathematics education.

Required Qualifications for the Assistant Professor position: a
doctorate in Mathematics Education and masters degree in Mathematics
or a doctorate in Mathematics and a demonstrated record in
Mathematics Education, by September 1, 2014.

Preferred Qualifications for the Assistant Professor
position: evidence of an active research and scholarly agenda along
with publication potential; demonstrated potential for excellence in
university teaching in Mathematics and Mathematics Education;
evidence of collaboration with PreK-12 schools and
faculty, including mathematics teaching experience at the middle or
secondary school level; knowledge of current and emerging mathematics
education theories and research methodologies; evidence of ability to
obtain grants; and experience with current instructional technology
including online learning/teaching systems.

Required Qualifications for the Associate or Full Professor
position: a doctorate in Mathematics Education and masters degree in
Mathematics or a doctorate in Mathematics and a demonstrated record
in Mathematics Education, commensurate with the rank of the position
sought.

Preferred qualifications for the Associate or Full Professor
position: Same as for the Assistant level position with the
additional preferred qualification of evidence of scholarship and
research funding commensurate with the rank of the position sought.

Initial Review: Qualified applicants must submit an application
letter that clearly states the rank to which the candidate
is applying and specifically addresses the required and preferred
qualifications. The application must include a current curriculum
vita; statement of philosophy of teaching; description of research
agenda; copies of transcripts; and three letters of reference that
address the candidate's qualifications and potential for research and
teaching. Review of completed applications will begin November 7 and
will continue until the positions are filled or closed.
