imported image is whiter than original

When I save an image in a script it works, but when I import it, it imports really white (see link at bottom.) This is the basic code I am using

imwrite(mat2gray(CurrentFrame),'CF.jpg'); %CurrentFrame is what I am taking the picture of
fOr = imread('CF.jpg');
colormap(gray);
image(fOr);

and here is how it looks to me:

Anyone know why this is happening?
