Department of Mathematics

Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professorship in Mathematics Education

Join a vibrant campus community whose excellence is reflected in its
diversity and student success.

Applications are invited for tenure-track, assistant/associate
professorship(s) in Mathematics Education in the Department of
Mathematics beginning in August 2014.

Responsibilities include teaching up to four courses per semester
which typically include mathematics teaching methods and mathematics
for elementary teachers. Candidates must have demonstrable excellence
in teaching and communication skills and potential for scholarship.
Candidates are required to have successfully completed a Master's
Degree in mathematics or the equivalent of, and an earned doctorate
in mathematics education or a related field by August 2014.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate some of the following:

o have teaching experience in elementary, middle, or secondary
school mathematics;
o have experience in working with middle or secondary teachers;
o have successful grant writing experience;
o have experience in supervising student teachers;
o have experience teaching graduate mathematics or mathematics
education courses;
o have experience in graduate program development;
o have experience in advising graduate students or supervising theses;
o have experience in assessing teacher education candidates for
o have successfully integrated technology in teaching methods.

Applications must include: a cover letter addressing the bulleted
items, a curriculum vita, a brief statement of teaching philosophy, a
brief research prospectus, three letters of recommendation with at
least one letter addressing in detail the candidate's teaching
effectiveness, undergraduate and graduate transcripts.

Finalists must successfully complete an interview process including
a teaching demonstration and a research talk to the Department's
faculty and upper-level students.
