share this with interested colleagues.

1. Assistant Professor of Secondary Mathematics Education

FIRST POSITION

The Education Division in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at
Lesley University is seeking a full-time, 9-month faculty member in
Middle and Secondary School Education with a focus in mathematics.
Responsibilities of the position include: (1) teaching courses for
undergraduate and graduate students in Education; (2) supervising
student teachers; (3) advising undergraduate students; (4) leading
course development in middle and secondary education and mathematics
education; (5) developing teaching-research collaborations with
diverse urban schools; (6) participating in program development,
assessment, and review in the Division; (7) participating in service
to the Division, College, and University.

Requirements: (1) Doctorate in Secondary Education or Curriculum and
Instruction with a focus on Secondary Mathematics Education; (2)
dissertation focus on mathematics education at the secondary level.
3) evidence of scholarship; (4) strong knowledge-base in the area of
secondary and middle school education curriculum and curriculum
theory and mathematics education; (5) three years of full-time
teaching experience at the secondary level in the United States; 6)
experience teaching at the college level in the United States a plus;
7) excellent verbal and written communication skills; 8)
authorization to work in the United States

SECOND POSITION

The Program Director is a faculty appointment with responsibility for
the overall leadership and administration of the Math programs. The
Program Director is responsible for program relevance and curriculum
quality; supervision of adjuncts and course mentors; oversight of
student relations; recruitment for the program and monitoring budget.
In addition this position will give special attention to the design
and implementation of innovative math offerings in a primarily
on-line environment. The Director has seven (7) workload units with
one additional month of administrative responsibilities, and is
expected to teach courses in a variety of modalities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Earned doctoral degree in mathematics/mathematics education or
significant demonstration of impacting mathematic education across
multiple districts
* Substantial teaching experience at the k-12 level
* A record of effective teaching at the college level or effective
teaching of k-12 teachers
* A record of effective curriculum design for both courses and
programs of study
* Expert skills using web-based teaching methodologies
* Requisite scholarly record or professional impact in their field to
warrant appointment at the assistant or associate professor rank
* Evidence of a professional commitment to programs that prepare
teachers to teach culturally, linguistically, and academically
diverse students with and without disabilities, and on the
integration of technology into curriculum and instruction

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Teaching and Supervision
* Teaches up to 5 workloads, based on size of the program
* Maintains a record of scholarship
* Maintains a record of service

Program Administration
* Serves as the liaison for all curriculum innovation in mathematics
education, including work with the Urban Teaching Center and the
Lesley Masters in Effective Teaching
* Maintains and monitors the field relevance, academic integrity and
quality of the program(s)
* Plans program development, revision, and implementation within the
program(s) for all delivery models
* Researches and develops new initiatives and programs in response to
emerging needs of the field

Budget
* Maintains and monitors the program budget
* Initiates requests for budgetary support for new initiatives,
resources related to growth, and program or course design to the
Division Director
* Assists Program Manager in maintaining records for managing and
developing a budget, and accountability for income and expenses

Program Curriculum
* Manages the development and revision of all program curricula in
face-to-face, hybrid and on-line delivery models
* Works with course mentors to review course syllabi
* Coordinate with CAGS, PhD and other cross-university programs
* Designs and monitors programs that meet endorsement and
certification requirements for students, in conjunction with the
certification and regulatory offices

Accreditation, Assessment and Program Evaluation
* Planning assessment activities for the program including key
assignments and rubrics
* Carries out the ongoing evaluation of the program and its courses
* Leads GSOE program review processes for the program according to
the school cycle and leads program-related activities for program
accreditation

Personnel
* Facilitates and coordinates recruitment, orientation and training
and evaluation of adjunct faculty, in conjunction with the GSOE
adjunct hiring manager
* Directs the curriculum and course-related work of faculty mentors
in the program
* Oversees staffing of all courses within the program, working in
conjunction with the program schedulers for all deliveries
* Collaborates with the assistant director of academic advising and
program manager to facilitate the work of the program

Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions
* Participates in planning and projection discussions related to
program admissions and enrollment, and makes recommendations related
to program admissions and enrollment
* Works with the Dean's office to set and meet enrollment management
goals for programs
* Participates in open houses and information meetings, off-campus
recruitment events, and other marketing events
* Provides content for promotional materials and web-based program descriptions

Student Relations
* Develops academic and professional community among students and
program faculty
* Coordinates with assistant directors to plan and implement student
orientation sessions and program related information meetings
* Collaborates with the assistant director in training new faculty in
advisement procedures for the program and in monitoring student
performance and overseeing retention activities
* Oversees activities that foster connections with alumni, including
ongoing communication, programmatic feedback, and networking and
professional development opportunities
* Advises students

Communications

Internal
* Responsible for accuracy of all program-produced materials and for
review of materials produced or published by others that require
program information or updates, including Web pages as well as print
materials
* Communicates with other programs within the Division and across GSOE
* Communicates with other programs and services in the University
External
* Establishes professional liaisons with colleges, professional
organizations, and the public
* Establishes professional liaisons with K-12 schools

SCOPE OF INDEPENDENT ACTION:
* Initiates, implements, and controls development of new courses in the program
* Makes recommendations to Division Director and Dean for new programs
* Consults with supervisor regarding expenditures, actions, and
difficult case related issues

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
* Responsible for adjunct faculty
* Responsible for advising up to 40 students
