Morsani Endowed Chair in Science or Mathematics Education Research
Start Date, Fall, 2014

The School of Teaching and Curriculum Leadership (STCL) in the
College of Education at Oklahoma State University is seeking an
outstanding individual with a national record of scholarship in P-12
Science or Mathematics Education. The Frank and Carol Morsani
Endowed Chair in Science or Mathematics Education is a unique
opportunity for an established scholar to work in a highly
collaborative environment. This faculty member will join a group of
active science and mathematics education faculty who are active as
researchers, instructors, grant writers, and who are involved in a
variety of national organizations.

POSITION: Frank and Carol Morsani Endowed Chair in Science or
Mathematics Education

RESPONSIBILITIES: This tenure-track faculty member will contribute to
the mathematics/science education program and the School of Teaching
and Curriculum Leadership (STCL), as well as to the College of
Education and Oklahoma State University, by engaging in these and
other professional activities:

o Teach graduate courses in mathematics and/or science education;
o Recruit and mentor graduate students;
o Conduct a program of focused research and publication related to
the position;
o Seek external funding through grants, including frequently
collaborating with others in the School, College, University, public
schools, and community on grants;
o Collaborate with university and public school faculty;
o Serve in leadership positions in professional organizations;
o Serve actively in the Center for Research on STEM Teaching and
Learning (CRSTL);
o Develop teacher education curricula;
o Participate in university outreach; and
o Work with other faculty and students in the Center for Research on
STEM Teaching and learning, a dynamic college center that generates
activity throughout the region for schools and university
collaborations.

The successful candidate will understand the Oklahoma State
University land grant mission and embrace the opportunity to make a
positive impact on the community through teaching, scholarship, and
service.

The position is primarily assigned to the OSU-Stillwater campus with
some responsibilities at the OSU-Tulsa campus.

REQUIREMENTS:
o Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Mathematics Education or Science Education, or
related area and emphasis;
o An established and sustained research agenda;
o History of external funding success;
o Experience in science or mathematics education at a research institution;
o National visibility in science or mathematics education;
o Evidence of consistently high quality teaching;
o Ability to serve as research mentor to graduate students;
o Evidence of intra- and inter-school and college collaboration; and
o Minimum three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred.

SALARY: In addition to a salary commensurate with the status of a
recognized national/international scholar additional funding is
available to support research and teaching activities.

BEGINNING DATE: August 1, 2014

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION/SCHOOL OF TEACHING AND CURRICULUM LEADERSHIP:
The College of Education is located in Willard Hall, centrally
located on OSU's scenic campus. The state-of-the-art facility
provides contemporary faculty offices, classrooms, laboratories, math
and reading center, and a distance learning center. OSU's main campus
in Stillwater (pop. 46,000) is approximately 65 miles from both the
Tulsa and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas and is readily accessible
from other major cities by interstate highway and air. As one of
three schools in the College of Education, the School of Teaching and
Curriculum Leadership employs 29 tenure track faculty.
