You can't make an acceptable-looking drawing with big long straight lines, unless your photo is made up of things like that. No one is going to like a drawn photo of a face with long lines. If you have to, make the lines only two pixels long so that they aren't very noticeable. A bunch of really short lines might look like a curve.
