I also received a note from Bharath Sriraman regarding Dienes'
passing, as follows:

Dear Colleagues
I regret to inform you that Zoltan Paul Dienes passed away last night
[1/11/2014] in the company of his family and friends. He was 97 years
old. It's a bit like the end of an era! When someone asked him a few
years ago how old he was, he answered, "Well, to give you an idea, I
was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire...He was born in 1916.
If we might take some solace from this loss, it might be the fact
that he wrote his last academic paper a few months ago. This gives us
impetus to carry on, no matter what.

If you have any words to convey to his family- please send your
e-mails to sriramanb@mso.umt.edu and I will pass them onto his
children.

sincerely
Bharath
