Fibonacci numbers in pine cone

Seed arrangement on the outer surface follows a definite pattern ordered as per Fibonacci numbers. Exact equation of spirals ( when seed to seed distance is taken constant) is unknown. Can any reference be found ?

BTW, it is round, more like an ovaloid than a cone.
