The UFT Math Teachers Committee in NYC will be having its annual ArtMath workshop in May. The presenter, not a math teacher but rather a prof. of graphics at RPI, plans to include ?transformational geometry (translation, dilation, rotation and reflection) and the Cartesian coordinate system? in her explanation of "how to use software that is openly accessible via the internet ... to simulate arts of various world cultures and their mathematical basis."

Since I myself am a hs teacher, I am not sure which grades now include these topics nor in how much depth. Instead of reading the entire CCSS for K-8 to locate the math concepts mentioned above, I am appealing to you to tell me.

Instead of clogging up the listserv, please reply directly to me.

Thanks a lot,
Bobbi Eisenberg,
Chairperson, UFT Math Teachers Committee
