Colleagues,

I am writing to you as the new department editor of the "News and
Views" section of Teaching Children Mathematics. I am searching for
submissions for our upcoming year.

This is a great opportunity to tackle something small, but to get
your name and your expertise out to a broad audience! We have two
pressing needs in the department. First, we are looking for new hot
topics in mathematics education - new app you want to write about?
How about a brand new book you have found useful in your teaching? Or
maybe something happening at the Museum of Mathematics has sparked
your interest and creativity? Maybe some current event in the world
could be related to mathematics?

If so we are looking for submissions between 250-700 words about
anything that the mathematics education community may find
interesting. Letters to the editor are also encouraged. Also, we are
hoping to focus one column in our section dedicated solely to
assessment. If you are interested in writing up a brief column
related to all things assessment (Smarter Balance, Common Core and
assessment, formative assessment, etc), we would like to have
submissions in the next month.

If you are interested at all in writing something, please let me know
and we can start a dialogue about possibilities and deadlines. I can
be reached a hhpinter@gmail.com

Thanks!

Holly Henderson Pinter <hhpinter@gmail.com>
