the 4 ants problem
Posted: Aug 20, 2000 5:05 AM

i'd like to simulate the age-old 4-ants problem. for those of you who haven't
heard it:

there are 4 ants on the vertices of a square. at a given moment, each heads
towards another (A heads towards B, B towards C, C towards D and D towards A).
since each ant is constantly moving, the "chaser" ant traces a spiral inside
the square. this happens until the 4 ants meet in the center of the square.
question: how much distance has each ant travelled?

can someone point me to how this can be simulated in matlab? i'd love to see
the movement of the 4 ants ...

best,
gautam.
