Two simulink questions

The first question has to do with just Simulink, and the second one has to
do with S-functions.

1) I need to send information 'upstream' in a Simulink worksheet - that
is, I want what happens in one block to modify the block that preceeds it
in the same time step. Right now, I simply loop a connection back, but
it's ugly, and when I develop this further it's going to be extremely
difficult to trace what I'm doing. I'm hoping that there's a cleaner way
to do this.

2) Is there a way to access data from a "Data Store Memory" block in an
S-Function? There are some worksheet-wide parameters I want to place in a
central location rather than have to specify them for each block.

Thanks!
