Type II error, Power
Suppose for a onetail right test H0: N(0,1), Ha: N(a=4,1)
___Type I___________________Type II=left area_ Alpha H0 c.v. _________Z0a 5% ___1.645___1.6454= 2.355____0.0093 1% ___2.363___2.3634= 1.637____0.0508 Powers are as high as 99.07% and 99.92%.
For a=2 Zaalpha=5% = 0.355, left= 0.3613, Power=63.87% Zaalpha=1% =+0.363, left= 0.6417, Power=34.13%
In general H0: N(mu0, sigma), Ha: N(mua, sigma) the Power is high as Z0a= mu0mua/sigma is large and Alpha= 5%. Luis A. Afonso
