TI Tips for Regents Success and Building Math Confidence

For: Teachers of Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 Regents courses, Math Chairpersons
Date: Wednesday May 31, 8:30AM-11:AM

Get tips, resources, and Regents review activities you can use in your classrooms immediately. Learn how to use JMAP.org resources in conjunction with Texas Instruments technology to engage students in Regents review and maximize test scores. This hands-on workshop will teach you how to use TI graphing calculators to wirelessly deliver Regents review questions, differentiate review questions, and collect information on students' understandings and misunderstandings to best prepare all students for the Regents exams.

Participants should bring their TI graphing calculator to this session. For participants who do not have, a TI calculator will be available for your use during the session.


TI Coding
For: Grades 6-12 STEM and introduction to Computer Programming teachers
Date: Thursday June 29, 9AM-12PM

Engage students in an easy-entry into programming in relation to math to help spark their interest in coding and computer science. The digital maker movement, a mix of arts and crafts combined with computer programming and electronics, has been taking the world by storm. Its ethos of tinkering and inventing is being used in the classroom to inspire a whole new generation of makers.
The TI-Innovator Hub extends the functionality of Texas Instruments graphing calculators to make coding and engineering design accessible to students in the classroom. Learn basic coding and design, use those skills to program and build working solutions, and connect science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts.

Participants should bring their TI graphing calculator to this session. For participants who do not have, a TI calculator will be available for your use during the session.

Creating the Interactive TI Math Classroom

For: Grades 6-12 Math teachers, Math Chairpersons
Date: Thursday, June 29, 12:30AM-3:00PM

Learn how to use the Texas Instruments TI-Navigator System to engage students in learning math concepts through interactive, hands on, discovery-based activities. The TI-Navigator System aids teachers in delivering effective instruction wirelessly. Teachers can wirelessly send Do Now and Exit ticket questions to students' individual calculators simultaneously. Students can talk to the teacher from the calculator. Collect formative assessment data through the use of TI technology and differentiate instruction to maximize student learning.

Participants should bring their TI graphing calculator to this session. For participants who do not have, a TI calculator will be available for your use during the session.

Dynamic Geometry
For: Teachers of high school Geometry, Math Chairpersons
Date: Monday, July 24 9:00-11:30AM

Integrate the Texas Instruments TI-Nspire graphing calculator's dynamic geometry software to allow students to explore geometry concepts hands-on in the palm of their hand. The software is built into the TI-Nspire, but many teachers are not aware of it, or do not know how to effectively integrate this software in their teaching of geometry. Perform analytic, transformational and Euclidean geometric functions. Build geometric constructions interactively with points, a set of points for locus, lines, polygons, circles, and other basic geometric objects. Alter geometric objects on the fly to see patterns, make conjectures, and draw conclusions. Take away free lessons and resources to use in your classroom.
Participants who are using the TI-84 calculators are welcome to attend, and will be shown how to use the original Cabri Jr. geometry software on the TI-84. However, the primary purpose of this workshop is to expose teachers to the more cutting-edge geometry possibilities that are built into the TI-Nspire calculator,

Participants should bring their TI graphing calculator to this session. For participants who do not have, a TI calculator will be available for your use during the session.

TI Science Solutions
For: Grades 6-12 Science teachers, Science Chairpersons
Date: Monday, July 24, 12:00-2:00 PM

Prepare students for success in school, college and careers with lessons and project-based activities that promote understanding of key concepts in middle grades and high school science. This hands on workshop combines TI-Nspire technology with the Vernier probeware to collect and analyze data instantly. We will look at STEM resources from Texas Instruments ready to use in your classrooms.

Participants should bring their TI-Nspire graphing calculator to this session. For participants who do not have, a TI-Nspire will be available for your use during the session. Vernier probeware will be available for your use during the session - participants do not need to bring that.
Note: Participants should keep in mind that in order to follow up what you learn in this workshop, your district needs to have Vernier probeware and TI-Nspire graphing calculators available for classroom use.
Note: If your district does not currently use the TI-Nspire, Texas Instruments allows districts to borrow a classroom set for 2-3 weeks to try it out.
