The subject is demonstrated in decimal digits.

Consider 5 x 6 and that notation fundamentally means six counts of five. To object to that requires an alternate notation.

Higher level operations are possible.

But the notation will be difficult to replace because it integrates with all operations. For instance:

(5 x 6) / 2 simplifies to 5 x 3 .
