Sent at the requesgt of Brea Ratliff, President
of an education non-profit organization called
the Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc. We are
currently looking for volunteers, and was
wondering if you would share this information
with your faculty, staff and students. I have
attached an official letter / memo with the same
information. Thank you!

The Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc. (BBA) is
a non-profit organization of individuals and
groups concerned about the mathematics education
of ALL children - specifically African-American
children. Founded in 1986, the organization
initially provided a forum for mathematics
educators, mathematicians, and other interested
people to discuss the teaching and learning of
mathematics for African-American children. For
the past 30 years, BBA has remained deeply
committed to finding solutions to the problems
that must be solved for African-American children
to reach parity in opportunities to study and
achieve in mathematics. Membership is open to all
who have a profound interest in the mathematics
education of African-American children.

BBA is an affiliate of the National Council of
Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), and is led by an
all-volunteer Board of Directors. You can learn
more about our organization's mission, vision and
recent leadership retreat by visiting the "News &
Announcements" page on our website
(http://bbamath.org/index.php/bba-blog/).

We are currently looking for individuals to
volunteer with our organization. Membership and
volunteering is open to anyone, and we would like
to extend a special invitation to undergraduate /
graduate students, K-12 educators, university
faculty / staff for assistance in the following
areas:

· Community Outreach
· Development (e.g. Teacher professional
development, lesson / activity design)
· Administrative Work
· Social Media
· Education Journal Contributors (e.g. writing, editing)
· Conference and Program Planning

If you are interested in volunteering with our
organization, please complete the "Contact Us"
form on the bbamath.org website.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Thank you,

Brea Ratliff
President, Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc.
