Hello,
During the weeks of July 14-25 the Math Forum will be working with the Urban Systemic Initiative (USI) in Philadelphia on ways teachers can incorporate Internet use in the Math classroom.
We will be asking the participating teachers to send letters of introduction that express their particular areas of interest. These messages will be posted to the geometry.institutes mailing list/newsgroup. Most of the workshop communication will take place on the geometry-institutes mailing list/newsgroup.
We invite you to follow the progress of this institute and to become a virtual participant by subscribing to geometry.institutes as a mailing list or reading it regularly on the web. We've recently made it possible to post from our web format as well. See: http://forum.swarthmore.edu/discussions/about/geometry-institutes.html for more information on how to join the fun. The institute runs Monday - Friday 8am to 1pm.
As you read the messages from participants, please feel free to join the discussion and share your experiences and ideas. Later on in the institute participants will be working on projects through which they develop web resources and prepare for the use of the Internet. If you would like to join these working groups online or are an experienced Internet user and would like to be considered for being a mentor to these teachers, please let us know.
You will be able to learn more about the USI, Strawberry Mansion Cluster Schools, the teacher participants and the institute by visiting the web pages, still early in their development at: http://forum.swarthmore.edu/workshops/usi/philly/
Feel free to write with any questions or concerns. Judy
