This morning I was looking through some messages that I had saved from the year and I ran across one from Sarah Seastone where she pointed out this web page:

The Internet in the Classroom: The Impact on Education - Judy Rice
A workshop for teachers to discuss the transformative nature of technology in the schools and the new emerging paradigm of teaching; look at examples of schools using the Internet; and examine some of the problems of using the Internet in the classroom. Contents: A New Paradigm; Technology in the Schools; How the Internet is Being Used; Problems with Using the Internet in the Classroom; Resources for Teachers; References.
I thought some of you might find it interesting reading.
I learned something from it! On her page
http://www.byu.edu/acd1/ed/workshops/teach_prob.html
She mentions in (1) that one effective monitoring device can be to: Inform students that the "global history" will be monitored (type "about:global" in Netscape's location field).
That was new information for me - VERY useful if you suspect a student has been in an inappropriate site.
