The final half-day of the 1998 Math Forum Advanced Summer Institute
began as usual in the living room of the Swarthmore College guest
house, Ashton House, with Connections, after which participants each
received a Math Forum t-shirt to commemorate their attendance.

Participants then walked to the lab and took turns presenting the
projects they had been working on all week. All of the onsite
participants wrote new Web pages, adding to previous work,
experimenting with materials (forms and javascript, etc.) they had
learned to use during the week, or exploring other software that was
new to them (the Geometer's Sketchpad, JavaSketchpad, and more). In
addition, Cathi Sanders, our online participant from Hawaii, put
together an impressive page of examples and links for 3-D Drawing and
Geometry:

To find all the new Web pages, follow the links on the Participant
Projects page:

We anticipate that participants will continue to work with Forum staff
to refine their pages during the remainder of the summer and the
coming school year.

Following the presentations, Suzanne Alejandre and Mel Sprouse showed
a thank-you Web page from all the participants, featuring some
photographs of Institute events taken by Mel, in particular the dinner
the previous evening at an Ethiopian restaurant:

After a sandwich lunch and heartfelt goodbyes, some of the group were
off to the airport and some left by car. Others spent an afternoon
and evening in Philadelphia, where Suzanne reports that she joined
Steve, Ken, Richard, and Annie to watch the third-place World Cup
soccer game (Croatia vs. Holland) in a sports bar, while Marjorie,
Evan, Mel, and Ron explored the neighborhood. After the game all
enjoyed dinner at an Italian restaurant, and on the way back to
Swarthmore Annie went the long way around to show off the "Rocky"
steps at the Philadelphia Art Museum and other sights of the city.
