This is a question for Keith and others using journal entries in
class. What did kids say the first time you mentioned writing in math
class?
I remember high school and we had a cow every time we had to write
something for english, much less math. Did you get a lot of initial
resistance? Is Dover-Sherborn a wealthy suburban school where kids are
used to writing in college prep classes? If so, has anyone out there used
journal entries in non-college prep situations?
I'm hopefully going to be a first-time math teacher next year, and
I'd love some practical feedback on what seems to be a great idea in
theory.
