Here's a geometry query that came up in conversation tonite--
How can you "discover" the Pythagorean theorem? In other words, what is
realistic (not cooked up, like one of the not so obvious dissections) way
really discover the Pythagorean theorem? How or why might have it been
discovered historically (since its knowledge seems to go back to oldest
recorded history in many cultures).
