Topic: Educational Media Technologies of the Future Program Sponsor: Ueland Junder McCauley, Architects and Planners Location: Franklin Institue, Philadelphia, Pa.
It was a panel presentation of experts and an open discussion mini-conference for heads of school, trustees and media program directors. The conference proposed providing understanding of leading-edge and evolving technologies and their implications for elementary and secondary education. As each panelist spoke the word ÃÂplanÃÂ was reiterated They spoke about building new facilities, as well as, changing existing facilities. One panelist said plan for flexibility in your room size, shape, wire access, and lighting. Another panelist foresees the role of the teacher as a guide, a master learner, and a facilitator. Someone suggested the possibility of offering teacher incentives to become more involved with technology. Schools should tap the resources of their parents, especially in private and parochial schools, to help with wiring the existing schools. Lastly, they spoke about marketing strategies. Schools should create that Star Wars mood.
