Old method to construct a pentagon with given side (side lengths): Construct a square with sides equal to the desired pentagon sides and circumscribe circle with centre M. On the square construct regular hexagon with base common to square and circumscribe circle with centre N. Bisect MN to give point O. Circle with centre O and square (or hexagon) base as cord (chord? Afr: koord) circumscribes regular pentagon.
