We invite you to become part of an online working group associated with the Math Forum's resource development institute scheduled for July 14-19 at Swarthmore College. This conference is an invitational program for pioneering K-12 mathematics teachers who are experienced in telecomunications and the use of computers in the classroom. A group of 13 participants will be working onsite with the latest tools, developing resources and projects that will enhance the usefulness and accessibility of the Internet for math education. You will be able to read more about the institute and the participants at .
One likely project is to develop some collections of data for elementary students and for high school students to manipulate in online math projects. Gail Lauinger <mailto:glauinge@mcn.org> (elementary), Tom Scavo <mailto:trscavo@syr.edu> (older elementary), and Pat Daley <mailto:pdaley@localnet.com> (secondary) will be working at the institute on these projects including preparing sets of data for students to work on.
If you would like to be involved in this effort please send a note to me (Annie Fetter <mailto:annie@forum.swarthmore.edu>) and to Gail, Pat, or Tom. In your note you should indicate the level of your access to the Internet during the week of the institute (July 14-19th), the resources, expertise, and energy you bring to this project, and your possibilites for being involved after the institute. We will also be starting online discussions before the 14th, so availability before then would be helpful.
Look for institute activity on the geometry.institutes newsgroup later in July (see for information on accessing this newsgroup).
