Add to Don Cook's list of articles on the geometry of medieval cathedrals:

Lon Shelby, "The Education of the Medieval English Master Masons", _Mediaeval
Studies_ 32(1970), 1-26, and "The Geometrical Knowledge of the Medieval Master
Masons", _Speculum_47(1972), 395-421.

Don wonders "how much more information there is on the history of mathematics
in non-mathematical sources." If "non-mathematical" includes the literature
of the history of science, the answer is "a lot."
