Dear Colleagues,
It has been a year and a half since you have received any messages from the math-hist list that I was moderating. The reason is that I got too busy and did not have the time to moderate the list. I have received numerous requests to revive the list and now I have.
The list has a new name: math-history-list and it lives on a different computer. To send a message to everyone on the list address it to: math-history-list@maa.org As before the purpose of this list is to encourage discussion of the history of mathematics.
Please be aware that the list is now UNMODERATED, so whatever you send out will automatically be sent out to everyone. Thus, let me caution you to proofread what you send out. Also, rather than respond immediately, look up the exact reference that you want to cite.
This is intended to be a public list that anyone can subscribe too, but I have not advertised that yet. I would like to let this new list run for a few weeks with just the original group of individuals. I will let you know when new names are added. If, after the list becomes public, the traffic gets heavy or the message get out of control, then I will put out a request for someone to moderate the list. I suspect that will not happen.
You should have already received a message from Majordomo telling you how to unsubscribe from the list if you should ever choose to do so.
If you have any problems with the operation of the list, do not post them to the list, but send them directly to me.
