Several people have inquired about the archive for the math-history-list. I thought I would post the information for everyone, since those who have joined the group recently may want to look at all of the messages.
If you send email addressed to email@example.com consisting of the single line index math-history-list then you will promptly receive a message like the following:
>>>> index math-history-list total 1428 100 math-history-list 0 math-history-list-199508 304 math-history-list-199509 1024 math-history-list-199510 >>>> >>>>
This tells the names of the archive files and their sizes. To obtain a copy of the file of message sent in September 1995 send email to firstname.lastname@example.org consisting of the single line get math-history-list math-history-list-199509 and to get the archive from the current month send the message get math-history-list math-history-list After you receive the file you can strip off the header and read it using your usual mail reader (exactly how you do this depends on your individual system, so if you have trouble, ask a local guru).
Please, don't everyone do this as soon as you receive this message, or you will overwhelm the machine.
