To ALL NCSM'ers in the Mid-Atlantic Region:
The following Conference announcement applies to those of us in the
mid-atlantic region.
Others outside of the region are certainly welcome and are invited if you
are interested
in
learning more about the NSF Curriculum Development projects in Math/Science.

MID-ATLANTIC CURRICULUM SHOWCASE CONFERENCE ON
STANDARDS-BASED MATHEMATICS & SCIENCE PROGRAMS
July 26-28, 1998
Featuring NSF-Funded Mathematics & Science Curricula
for Grades K-12
Marriott Hotel
Harrisburg, PA
Registration Deadline: June 1, 1998
This showcase is an excellent opportunity for teachers,
administrators, and others to examine the latest innovative
curricula developed and supported by the National Science Foundation
(NSF) and others to meet the national mathematics and science
standards. Presentations will be provided by teachers that have used
these materials in the classroom. Additionally, relevant findings on
curriculum from the Third International Mathematics and Science
Study (TIMSS) will be provided.
Showcase Features:
* Introductory presentations on each of the participating
programs.
* Hands-on sessions with the curricula led by teachers who have
already implemented that curriculum at the classroom level.
* Summary and relevant implications from TIMSS, including key
findings from the 4th, 8th, and 12th grade results.
* Conference participants can meet with the developers,
publishers, and teachers actively engaged in the
implementation of these curriculum projects.
* Display area featuring materials and publications from
participating programs.
* Networking opportunities, including a dinner banquet.
Registration Cost: A conference fee of $65 per person includes all
materials, two lunches and the banquet. Registration form is
attached below.

Participants are responsible for their travel and overnight
