What's wrong with...

1/3 2/6 2 1/6 2 = (8) = (8) = [(8) ] = 2
[in case the format gets messed up, what I typed above is the same as:
2 = (8)^(1/3) = (8)^(2/6) = [(8)^2]^(1/6) = 2 ]
There are a couple of articles in the September issue of Educational Studies in Mathematics about this equation.
