My concern is not that the students did not learn by using calculators. My
concern is that if they do not do well in college, maybe it is because the
level of questioning by the college professors required them to give
definitions, state theorems, physical plot points on coordinate paper. Maybe
they are not being asked to think in their college classes, but just give back
what they have been told. I know that math professors teach that way. I got all
A's as a math major because I had the ability to psych out my professors and
knew what they were going to ask for on exams.
