Are there any definitive studies addressing the issue of whether the use of
calculators in K-12 has a significant impact on subsequent capacity to
perform on-the-job mental arithmetical estimation? I would have thought that
calculator use greatly increases one's ability to estimate mentally, but
that's not what I've been reading here.
