I need your help! I am the Mathematics Curriculum Leader of the Huntingdon
Area Middle School. We are about to experiment in our building with regards
to reading in the content area. We will need to develop 45 day's worth of
material for students of grades 6-8. Do any of you folks have any experience
in this area? I am considering using a short piece of mathematical literature,
but have few ideas as to what is available. Isaac Assimov's The Realm of
Numbers comes to mind, but it's VERY dated, and probably out of print. I
wwould appreciate any suggestions you may have. Keep in mind this is for
the average (if there is such a thing) student. Our gifted students will
be working on their own projects, and our remedial kids will be receiving
developmental reading. If you don't want to post to the list, please
e-mail me in private.

Thanks,

Michael Simpson
