GDay to you all....
My name is Mike Bolduan and I teach math at a small
independent school in Oregon. I have been at the school
for 16 years (with 16 more years at a public school before
that). For the last couple of years I have been becoming
increasingly concerned about the way our year ends. We
have no organized final exams and as a result the year
just seems to dribble off with no real conclusion to it.
I was wondering what others do with regard to having
a final exam time. If you would be willing to share
with me please send me e-mail and I will summarize for
the group if there is sufficient response.
Both the junior high and the high school I went to had
a formal exam week with a different schedule, etc.. While
I recall not being exactly crazy about it at the time,
with hindsight it looks like a more satsisfying way to end
the year. As it is now, some of the teachers DO in fact give
a final exam (perhaps one day, perhaps two, perhaps
a take-home...) but others do nothing and the course
apparently just ends.
Thanx in advance for your contributions.
