Elementary Mathematics Education Positions. Florida International University,
which offers baccalaureate, Master's, and doctoral programs to approximately
23,000 students, announces two openings in elementary mathematics education,
one visiting position and one tenure-track position. Candidates without
specific backgrounds in ELEMENTARY School Mathematics need not apply.

Visiting Professor. Doctorate and university teaching in the field
required and elementary experience desired. Teaching assignment is
undergraduate and graduate elem. math. edu. courses for Fall semester and
possibly Spring. Working knowledge in current reform movements and strong
background in mathematics. Start date 21 August, rank is open with negotiable
salary. Send letter of application and current vita by 31 July to Professor

Tenure Earning Position Doctorate required with teaching experience at
the elementary and university levels desired. Strong background in mathematics
and working knowledge of reform movement in mathematics education are
essential. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate elementary
mathematics education courses, advising students, active in research,
publishing, and service within the field. Rank of assistant or associate,
desired start date is January 1996, and salary is negotiable. Interested
applicants should send letter of application and current vita to Professor
Gilbert by 6 October. Three recent letters of recommendation are required.
The authors should mail these directly to Dr. Gilbert by the closing date.
