As an NCTML subscriber, I appreciate the fact that the listserv focuses on discussions of issues and I don't necessarily want to see the list turn into a bullletin board for announcements of every shape and kind. I include the announcement below, however, because it incorporates a variety of leading programs that reflect visions of mathematics outlined in the Standardsand is thus may be relevant to the disucssions that occur on NCTML.
============================================================================ The 1995 National Summer Institute of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is a nonprofit program of UIC's Institute for Mathematics and Science Education dedicated to presenting teachers, math/science curriculum leaders, and teacher educators with an opportunity to learn about some of the country's leading math/science innovations for Grades K12. This year's Summer Institute includes 20 different workshops in fiveday, threeday, twoday, and oneday formats. Workshops on the following programs are included:
